Bulbuli Mukherjee's penchant for Odissi dance was recognized at an early age of 7. Under the tutelage of Sabita Mishra, a disciple of Padmashree recipient Late Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, she underwent intensive training in one of the oldest classical dance forms in India. With the blessings of Lord Jagannath, her Guru and well wishers, she continued her passion over 20 years. She was awarded a Gold Medal in National Level Degree Examination of Odissi dance conducted by Prayag Sangit Samiti. Over the decades, she has performed at multiple events spanning the country.
In addition to classical dance, she has also trained in Jazz and Ballet. She is a strong advocate of human rights and has worked with global human rights organizations like Breakthrough.
